Frequently Asked Questions
What makes Floodworx barriers different from traditional sandbags?
Floodworx barriers provide a hassle-free, eco-friendly solution that outshines traditional sandbags. Unlike labor-intensive, messy sandbags that are hard to dispose of, our barriers are quick to deploy, reusable, and leave no waste behind. They rely solely on water from a standard garden hose to create a powerful seal against floodwaters.
One of the standout features of Floodworx barriers is their linkable design. You can easily connect multiple barriers to form a continuous line of defense, with the flexibility to adjust the length as needed. This adaptability makes them perfect for protecting spaces of any size, from doorways to entire properties.
Another key benefit is our unique lower chamber, or “brake,” which enhances stability and helps keep the barriers securely in place, even in challenging conditions. This design ensures maximum protection, giving you peace of mind during heavy rains and floods.
How do Floodworx barriers work?
Floodworx barriers are filled with water to create a heavy, watertight seal that diverts and controls floodwaters. Simply connect a garden hose, fill the barriers, and position them where needed. When filled, the water inside the barrier acts as a weighted shield, stabilizing and anchoring it to the ground. This creates a dense, flexible wall that absorbs and resists the pressure of incoming water, effectively redirecting or blocking its flow. Once the threat has passed, simply drain, dry, and store them for future use.
Are Floodworx barriers eco-friendly?
Yes! Our barriers require no toxic chemicals, gels, or other harmful materials. They are designed with the environment in mind, using only water to achieve their strength. Plus, they are reusable, reducing waste compared to single-use sandbags.
How much water can Floodworx barriers protect against?
A single layer of Floodworx barriers can protect against water levels of up to 6 inches. For enhanced protection, you can stack two layers of barriers, which will provide coverage for water levels up to 1 foot. This flexibility allows you to customize your flood defense depending on the severity of the flooding in your area.
Floodworx barriers are designed for lower water levels and are ideal for managing flooding from heavy rains, storm surges, or minor flooding. They are not intended for extreme high-water events, such as those caused by hurricanes or severe flooding. For high-level flood protection, additional measures may be required.
Can Floodworx barriers be used on different surfaces?
Absolutely. Floodworx barriers are versatile and can be used on a variety of surfaces, including concrete, asphalt, gravel, and grass. They conform to uneven surfaces to create a secure seal, making them ideal for both residential and commercial applications.
How do I store Floodworx barriers when not in use?
After use, simply drain the water from the barriers, clean them if necessary, and allow them to dry completely. Then, roll them up for compact storage. They’re designed to be easy to store so you can keep them on hand for future emergencies.
What sizes are available?
Floodworx barriers measure 4 feet in length and 6 inches in height, with a total width of 9 inches that includes the integrated lower chamber, or “brake,” for added stability. You can easily connect multiple barriers to form a continuous line of defense, with the flexibility to adjust the length as needed. This adaptability makes them perfect for protecting spaces of any size, from doorways to entire properties.
Can I reuse Floodworx barriers?
Yes, our barriers are designed to be reusable! With proper care and storage, you can use them multiple times, making them a cost-effective and sustainable solution for flood protection.
How quickly can Floodworx barriers be deployed?
Floodworx barriers are incredibly quick to set up. Just connect a hose, fill them up, and they’re ready to use in minutes. No heavy lifting, no sand, no mess!
Are the barriers puncture-resistant?
Floodworx barriers are made from durable, puncture-resistant materials. However, like any product, sharp objects or rough handling can cause damage. It’s always best to clear the area of debris before deploying the barriers.
Where can I purchase Floodworx barriers?
You can purchase Floodworx barriers directly from our website, www.Floodworx.com or from Amazon.com
How many barriers do I need?
The number of barriers required depends on the length and height of the area you want to protect. Each filled Floodworx barrier measures 4 ft. (L) x 9 in. (W) x 6 in. (H). To calculate how many barriers you'll need for a single layer, simply measure the length of the area you want to cover and divide by 4. This single layer will protect against water levels of up to 6 inches, which is typically enough for minor flooding.
For water levels of 1 foot or less, you can stack a second layer of barriers on top of the first. For the best stability, we recommend stacking against a wall or arranging the barriers in a pyramid shape.
Floodworx barriers are designed to handle smaller amounts of floodwater. We do not recommend stacking barriers higher than two layers or using them for water levels of 1 foot or higher or for more severe flooding situations.
Which types of water can I use the barriers in?
Floodworx barriers can be used in waters that are fresh, brackish or saltwater.
